Downers Grove DOLLS

The Downers Grove DOLLS is a volunteer-run fast-pitch softball program that provides teams for girls from Kindergarten to 23 years of age, with levels of play ranging from recreational to highly competitive. Softball Helmets

The Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) requires that players wear helmets with chinstraps and NOCSAE approved face guards to protect batters. The DOLLS board has agreed that this requirement is in the best interest of our players. Therefore, in the 2008 season, players will be required to wear a helmet complying with the ASA ruling. If you are planning on purchasing a helmet for your child, please consider this change in rules when making your purchase. Helmets meeting the requirements are available thru DOLLS on the registration forms.

Rain Out Policy

The Downers Grove Park District is taking responsibility for determining whether fields are playable. Please read their memo. Coaches and players should call 630-223-4092 to see if fields are open. Coaches and umpires may still call games at their discretion, but no games are playable if the park district closes the fields.

Lightning Policy

The DOLLS board takes the safety of the players seriously and has issued a policy that directs coaches, players, and spectators to vacate fields immediately when lightning is present or predicted. The Downers Grove Park District has installed a ThorGuard lightning prediction system which is being used by many organizations to protect people using the parks. For the safety of all involved, when lightning is visibly or audibly present, regardless of whether the ThorGuard system predicts it, please vacate the fields immediately and seek shelter.
